Man-Camp 2010 - (Part 2.5)

I will be posting the next part of the series soon.  But I wanted to post this so people can get a visual of what I was saying about the hike and camp.  Here is a pic that one of my friends took as we were getting ready to head down the mountain.  I wish I had a pic for size comparison but here is me with my small backpack, skinny #2 pencil walking stick and my trusty (borrowed) knife on my side (for protection against birds and other smaller wildlife).  I might post more pics as I get them.

As you can see I REALLY look like I'm ready for a camp out.

  1. I'm digging the canteen! Looks like one of the old wool coated ones.

The walking stick and knife? They are pretty sad. :D

  2. This might sound like a strange question but is that a ukulele strapped around your shoulder? Is that what all the good hikers carry these days? Should I have one the next time I go camping?

    Good luck!

  4. @Anna - I think it was wool. But I'm not too sure of the fabric. And as far as the walking stick and the knife... told ya. :)

@Spencer Park - Come on!!! You can't have camping without a ukulele. Next time you go, make sure you take one. And I want pics...

@JoJo - Thanks! BTW, do you wear glasses? I'm not sure you are seeing me correctly. lol.

@WeaselMomma - Those of us who have small pencils KNOW we have small pencils. There's no need to point it out. :)

  5. Look at you! Smashing. I think they gave you broomstick instead of a walking stick though.

  6. I had a similar walking stick. It was painted red and held the curtains up in the rec room - it is broken now - the weight of the cotton was too much I guess. Maybe I should have wrapped it in a sweater like you to save it from an untimely death?

  7. @Lisa - Thanks! You might be right about the broomstick. That would definitely make more sense.

@lizziehoop - LOL. Nice. I guess it could work as a curtain rod. And that sweater is really a jacket that was used to cover my head when the rain started coming down. It offered very little cover during the rain and actually made things worse once it was soaked.

  8. It was not a pencil. And, if you'll remember, I did offer you the titanium, telescoping walking stick. But noooooo, you had to have the pencil...

  9. @silmerae - I do thank you for offering the walking sticks. I opted out of the mechanical pencil for the #2 pencil. They were both about the same height but the metal one was skinnier (though made out of titanium). Either way, they didn't have that Lord of the Rings feel everyone else's walking stick had. :)

  10. On the plus side, that small backpack must have been easier to hike with? I'm trying.
